There is a great value to how an activity is scaffolded and implemented. An activity such as the FAHE111001: De Bono’s Hats Activity, allows users to understand the ease and possibilities through the design of the wiki. Due to the sheer numbers within the course, it requires an efficient system, which wiki has provided. Through the use of 25 pages, students can follow the simple table format answering questions and conveying their opinion; while also considering other perspectives. The table format allocates a specific area for each of the De Bono’s Hats. After participating in this activity and considering each of the hats, I can see several links to learning theories.

The learning theories of Cognitive Constructivism and Social Constructivism are implemented throughout the activity. While only some of Cognitive Constructivism is used, Social Constructivism is the main theory behind this activity. Social Constructivism involves students leaning by discovery and experience, which is seen through the use of the different questions for the six De Bono’s Hats. Social Constructivism entails the use of collaboration of new ideas and the possible learning with support and scaffolding. This collaboration can occur anywhere and anytime.

The wiki allocates specific scaffolding to allow all students to have their opinion voiced, while hearing different perspectives and gaining new knowledge through the learning theory of Social Constructivism. By following the set out of the six hats and their specific questions, we were able to create a broader understanding of the topic.

The De Bono’s Hats Activity is quite a successful activity and could be used in a variety of classrooms; however, as learning managers we must consider that this would have to be taught within the school as there is no guarantee students will have the funds and ability to access a computer outside of the school environment.

  1. Love the banner.
Good start to weekly posts Rebecca.
You provided some excellent reflections as per the marking sheet guide.
Can I suggest future posts add a little more detail and more visuals to deliver your ideas.
This technique is modelled well in other posts in the week 2 blogs.
I suggest you take a look and maybe even add some feedback comment to fellow students.
Your paragraph size is good and suitable for online environments.
    keep up the good work.
